Built between 1812 and 1816, these once elegant grade II listed Georgian terrace of 25 houses were not only run down, but had been sub-divided into 125 apartments. The brief was to restore them to their original form as individual family houses.
Extensive research into their original layouts, construction, internal details and finishes allowed us to devise a master plan that would incorporate and provide for the excavation of an underground swimming pool or games room beneath each house, and a car park with 76 spaces below the front carriageway.
Substantial structural repairs to stabilize the building were carried out in conjunction with English Heritage. New rear extensions were formed while the roof structure was taken back to its original profile. Existing internal architecture features provided the templates to procure and replace badly damaged or missing counterparts, reinstating the interior of each house to its former glory with the modern amenities of a new property.
