Earls Terrace

Location: Kensington, London
GDV: £100 million
Date: 1993-1999
Size: 122,000 sq ft

Built between 1812 and 1816, this once elegant Grade II listed Georgian terrace of 25 houses was not only run down, but had been sub-divided into 125 apartments. The brief was to restore them to their original form as individual family houses.

Extensive research into their original layouts, construction, internal details and finishes allowed us to devise a master plan that would incorporate and provide for the excavation of an underground swimming pool or games room beneath each house, and a car park with 76 spaces below the front carriageway.
